Installing the Oracle database software - The Oracle Universal Installer prompts you to provide it the path of the oracle base. Oracle Base and Oracle Home are directory locations and are recommended to be set as defined in OFA (Oracle Flexible Architecture) standards. This helps a DBA to effectively manage the system and also, improves performance by minimizing disk contention.

ORACLE_BASE - c:\oracle\product\11.2.0

ORACLE_HOME - c:\oracle\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1

Once the database software has been successfully installed, lets start with creating an oracle instance/service and password file.

Create pfile (initPSHR9152.ora) and startup database in nomount stage with spfile.

Now install the peoplesoft PeopleTools and Application -

Extract downloaded compressed folders, and run PeopleSoft Installer (setup.exe) from disk1. Provide License Code, select Non-Unicode or Unicode database type radio button, and specify PS_HOME location, Connectivity Program Directory location (C:\oracle\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\BIN). Provide path to disk2 and disk3.
