Linux - Solaris SunOS/AIX/HPUX

The Linux OS consists of a Kernel, system calls and utilities and shells used to access the OS. The most popular shell are sh (the Borne shell), ksh (the Korn shell) and bash shell. In addition, a Linux OS comes with a huge variety of utilities and applications for data manipulation, word processing and computing. Creating shell programs or scripts is a great way to perform maintenance tasks, if you are going to do something more than once best is to incorporate the tasks in a shell script and use it.
