Oracle database installation on Linux

Here are the steps to install Oracle database on Linux platform. I have installed this on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.

Preparing system for install-
1) Login as root user and check memory and swap space, /tmp space ($df -k /tmp)
2) Create oracle user account.
 

3) Run Installer program -

You see this error- Installer cannot continue installation if user is "root". OK, let switch user to oracle and continue. Still the error- "... refused by server"

Now disable the access control, and run the installer.

 

The Oracle Universal Installer is now ready for installation.
